Meena (name changed), a 33-year-old woman, came to Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon, during her second pregnancy with a strong desire to have a natural birth. Her first child had been delivered via Caesarean section, and she was keen to explore the possibility of a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC). After a thorough evaluation by our obstetrics team, including a detailed review of her previous delivery, health status, and pregnancy progress, we found her to be a good candidate for VBAC and began planning for a safe and monitored natural birth.

Throughout her pregnancy, Meena received regular antenatal care, with close monitoring to ensure both mother and baby were doing well. Our team provided her with detailed counselling about the benefits and risks of VBAC, helping her stay informed and confident in her birth plan. As her due date approached, she went into spontaneous labour. She was admitted under continuous observation, with both maternal and foetal parameters closely tracked to ensure safety at every stage.

Labour progressed naturally and steadily. Our obstetricians and nursing staff were fully prepared, ready to intervene if necessary, but committed to supporting her through a vaginal delivery. After several hours of active labour, Meena gave birth to a healthy baby girl through a normal delivery—an emotional and empowering moment for her and her family.

Following the delivery, both mother and baby were observed in the postnatal unit, where Meena recovered smoothly and began breastfeeding. She was discharged after a few days with postnatal care guidance and follow-up appointments scheduled. Today, Meena is enjoying motherhood for the second time with renewed confidence and a deep sense of fulfilment.

Her successful VBAC journey is a reassuring example that, with expert guidance and careful selection, many women can safely experience a normal birth after a previous C-section. At Artemis Hospitals, we are committed to offering personalised, evidence-based care to support such choices and ensure the best outcomes for mother and baby.
